The technique

Sacred Healing Through Movement and Touch

In ancient Hawaii, every profession had its own kahuna (master) who would offer a pule (prayer) at the beginning of any activity—whether building a canoe, embarking on a fishing expedition, dancing, or engaging in the sacred art of healing such as lomi lomi. This practice reflects the deep connection between the physical, spiritual, and energetic aspects of all actions. Every task, no matter how simple, was approached with reverence and mindfulness, acknowledging the sacredness in all that we do.

Kaalele Au Hula: The Dance of Healing

In my practice, I draw upon the profound wisdom of Hawaiian traditions, beginning with the Kaalele au hula dance steps, also known as the "flying dance." This movement practice connects the body’s motion and breath in a harmonious rhythm, allowing the dancer to cultivate a deep state of presence and awareness. By focusing attention on a single point—whether it’s the hand, heart, or center of the body—the repetitive motions of the dance induce a meditative trance that helps clear the mind, allowing for a greater sense of calm and clarity.

Through the repetition of these movements, we form muscle memory, which allows us to access a state of mental stillness more quickly. This process is beneficial not only in dance but in healing work, where the goal is to embody purity and create a state of bliss and peace. When the mind is free from distraction, it is able to fully engage in the healing process.

A Dance of Touch: Lomi Lomi Massage

I begin my lomi lomi sessions with the foundation of Kaalele au hula, using its graceful flow as a dance of touch to introduce the process on your back. As I move with the rhythm of my steps, I gently use my elbows, applying perpendicular pressure to the shoulder muscles. This pressure glides between the shoulder blades, following the line of the spine, releasing tension from deeper layers of the back muscles.

The stroke continues down toward the sacrum, where it shifts direction, flowing downward along the waist. My arm turns over, and I use the outer side of my lower arm to glide from the sacrum to the thighbone, deeply working through the gluteal muscles. The stroke then moves down the thigh and gently caresses the side of the body, returning to the shoulder. As one hand completes this movement on one side, the other hand is already preparing to mirror the same stroke on the opposite side of the body.

Long, Flowing Strokes: A Journey of Release

In the session you will experience a full-body strokes that begin at the feet and flow all the way up to the shoulders, and then reverse. Starting with firm yet gentle pressure at your feet, I move up your calves and thighs across the hip socket then embracing the waist, and then traveling across your back along the spine. The stroke continues over the back muscles, deeply gliding along the spine and shoulders, before extending through the arms and legs, and finally returning to its starting point.

The rhythmic, fluid motion of these strokes mirrors the gentle ebb and flow of ocean waves, soothing the body and calming the mind. Using warm oil and a blend of firm yet tender pressure, these movements bring you into a state of deep relaxation, where the body feels free, uplifted, and nurtured. The experience allows you to release attachments, embracing a sense of joy, love, and peace.

A Sacred Approach to Healing

The touch I offer is more than physical; it is an embodiment of love, respect, and reverence for the sacredness of life. Every stroke is a dance that honors the connection between body, mind, and spirit, creating space for you to feel cherished, valued, and deeply cared for. Through this humble and loving approach, I invite you to experience healing that goes beyond relaxation, cultivating a sense of joy, balance, and vitality.
